Grand Egyptian Museum to Close Temporarily Ahead of Official Opening
The Grand Egyptian Museum will temporarily close its doors from June 15 to July 5, 2025, as part of the final preparations for its long-awaited official opening on July 3. During this period, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities will carry out essential logistical and organizational work inside the museum.
According to Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the Grand Egyptian Museum Authority, the museum will reopen to the public immediately after the inauguration. Visitors will then be able to enjoy the full museum experience during the official operating hours.
Since October 16, 2024, the museum has welcomed guests to select areas as part of a trial phase. Starting in February 2025, it introduced new official hours. The museum is open daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with extended evening hours on Wednesdays and Saturdays until 9:00 PM.
The Grand Egyptian Museum is set to become one of the most iconic cultural destinations in the world. With its strategic location near the Giza Pyramids and its vast collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts, including the complete Tutankhamun collection, the museum promises a world-class experience.
